Prawn Noodle

Sorry for not posting! Been caught up with exams :/ Sorry thats a really bad excuse.. But all that missing of clay gave me straight A1s (haha a little boasting over here) and top in class :D I am quite proud of myself but that has nothing to do this clay so I will come back to topic :D Erm I've been facing quite some problems with friendships too (14 year-old things) so yeap. But I am back and better! Will be posting more frequently I promise :)

Before I went crazy with exams, I had actually done this! Actually I also did a sweet deco but erm I'll save it for dormant/extinct periods :)

I made this for a friend, and I had rolled the noodle for like donno how long and left it there.

Until my friend asked me like 3 months later, I quickly got back to making it :X

Look at some pictures of before it became a hp charm :D

I won't consider this 1:12, more like 1:10 .__. but scaled to sylvanian families so I guess considered as a miniature!

I shall talk less, pictures more! :)

Ice Cream Scooops :)

A Birthday Gift - Sylvanian Families Cake Shop Set!

See how the macaron tower fits in :)

Although the display is smaller, I'll have to make do until I learn how to make one :| The display case is too big :(

Will try to fill up the display case.. Probably can only fill up 2 cakes per level :( Right now the cakes look really fake :'(

ICE CREAM! I was making some sweets deco ice cream, and took a teensy weensy bit out :D

Yea I did'nt bother to texture them.. It was for fun!

Its a bit oversized too :(

Well, I'm obsessed with the whole ice cream thingy now so i'm going to make a prep board for that!
(Another reason is to use up modena clay.. but it makes me nauseous and gives me a split headache :( )

-Sophie Code still there-

P.S Will not be posting often due to blocktests and cca!

MORE Sweets Deco!

Why Hi! Before the pictures, I got myself a nice little tumblr. I don't really like it now as its pretty slow. So I'll see if I update it. Its all about crafts but there's lesser pictures ;) Its more simple and its all about the photos. the link is http://moomoominiatures.tumblr.com/ and I'll link it here later :D

Remember the stuff I bought from artfriend? I bought 3 (one of them's the photo frame) and heres the other two plus an iphone cover I bought from korea but was deemed too ugly.

Its a little box, which can be pulled out from the side :)

The theme is green and yellow! I use it to keep more sweets deco pieces etc. ice cream scoops inside :)

Giant Clothespeg! I thought it was ultra cute so I bought it :) there were bigger ones but....more ex

I ran out of silicon, so I have to do the other side next time! The other side will be blue sweet and pink macarons! I decided not to cover the whole thing for practicality matters :D

Its really fail! I was'nt working well with silicon, so only some could squeeze out "seeable" shells. So I used a tooth pick to spread the silicon, so now its really ugly :( And the side nearest to you, is ruined due to that :(

This lighting makes it look better :) But I think it does'nt have a nice overall theme since there wasn't good planning unlike my two wood work :)

Haha another kind of lighting. Told u the pipping was bad :(

I shall see if my friend wants it. If she does'nt, I'll throw it into the stash of "maybe I'll look back and see how bad I was last time".

Might put the clothespeg into the "gift for friends birthday" stash :D

I'm keeping the box for myself, love the colour combination, not your usual pinky and purply and girly style!

I will try out the whipped cream ($10.95 at robinsons) when I go around there :) Nowadays I spas whenever I smell silicon. And it stinks my house and my room. I am so going to die of a respiratory illness.

Can't wait to go to Art friend to get more awesome wood stuff to deco! In the meantime, I'll work on some miniature projects and ban myself from sweets deco other than finishing my clothespeg :) I need to finish up what I bought before buying more, cause my mom's already nagging that all my moneys going out and non is coming in :(
P.S God Bless Japan, I do hope that the situation will get better :)

Sweets Deco Frame!

Was inspired by sweet and tiny :) so I thought I could try out deco-ing a photo frame :) Its for a teacher and she said it was gorgeous so I am happy!

Anyways, its my first try at a photo frame so don't expect too much.

And Sweets and Gems and Ribbons!

i have to say I am mighty pleased with it :)

I ought to start on more miniatures. But Sweets Deco is really more convenient and not so mind-wrecking! Ah well, I'm working on a ice cream display but it might fail :X so no promises for blogpost on that! Maybe I should start working on cakes/pastries. I am quite at a loss of what to do XD

P.S Sophie and Toffee Code still available...

P.S Pray for Japan, I hope they'll be fine!

Macarons, Paper Bag!

Hi! Finally found time to blog these. I had been busy and as I am sick today, I skipped school and now that I feel better I decided to post. I finally went to Art Friend and it was a disaster but you don't have to know that :) I won't be posting on it so a summary is : I bought some wood thingys to deco (you'll see them in upcoming posts), some PVC boards, wood, glue and ribbons for the macaron tower. I also wasted $7 there. It was a horrible spendthrift day and looking back on it I bet I wasted at least 30 bucks during the entire shopping trip.

I finally finally finished this up, I got so sick of popping macarons shells I am amazed I finished it ><

Looks like the tower is almost as tall as baby Kelly :D

Macaron tower measures 4 cm in height, 3.5 cm in base diameter. Each macaron shell is awfully small :)

Well this time was quite a fun experience. Popping macaron shells while watching tv haha! Also I learned one very important fact:

The cone of the tower is awfully important. This tower's was really uneven and gross :( If you look through the top, it revealed some crappy clay :P Anyways it caused alot of trouble, and the uneven base gave me headaches. As you can see the bottom row is wrapped in a ribbon. It was supposed to be covered in macarons but ya :( Even when appplying the ribbon, it took me 2 tries and 2 ribbons to do it. I'll have to throw away a cone I did together with this :(

As you can see in the pictures, there is also a paperbag! I did it in between classes! It was fun and when I have more time I'll mass produce it. I use the dimensions of a tutorial as my math brain never fails to fail me. Anyway, the tutorial can be found in the "tutorials" tab so check it out!

P.S No one has asked for the referral code yet! I think it gives a 10-20% discount so please ask it from me or it'll just expire and die :(

Oyumaru Review

Yippee! First review!

I forgot to take pictures of my oyumaru but basically they look like this

Some Basic Info
Price: Ranging from SGD$1 - SGD$1.70 each strip
Places to Buy: Daiso ($1 per strip), Garies International, Tinkleart and crafts
How to use: Place strip into hot water, take it and press item into putty. Demold after 5-10 minutes.

Convenience
For me it's pretty easy to get, Daiso sells the cheapest for me and they come in packs of 2 strips, good for people who aren't willing to waste money on a product they are not sure about. It might be harder to get in America and all that since it's a japanese product.

Features
Its easy to use, but its pretty hard after it hardens, and don't stay as flexible. It's good at picking up details too! The best thing about Oyumaru is its reusability so don't worry if you screw up or don't use a certain mold anymore. If not perhaps you can just buy one and keep reusing it and reusing and simply making a new mold each time beforehand :) Colours are vibrant and I'll give it a plus for making me happy ^^ Its not good for scaled miniatures, but good enough for cabochons as it'll be too difficult to pop it out considering the size! Its best for air dry clay, but polymer clays fine too :D

Tips while using it
Leave it in for a good time. I was really impatient and kept taking it out. The result is that it either stays pretty hard or detail does'nt catch and once u take out the master, the putty springs back to a boring slab of oyumaru. You would'nt want that, now do you? Same thing for the thing you are popping out. I use it for flat stuff like cookies and waffles, for when it comes to deeper stuff and polymer clay, it'll be good to stay away for say 10 minutes and go back :) If not you can try putting it in the freezer or something (Perhaps I'll try out one day.)

Lastly, some pictures of some stuff I've demolded from my molds :)

I love the nice details! Uneveness keeps it the waffle look too :o
Good details!!!

Summing it up:

Pros:
good for Larger items, Flat items, Air Dry Clay
cheap
reusable
vibrant colors
easy to use
convenient

Cons:
not as flexible
bad for deep stuff
may break halfway using it

overall, I'll recommend it for cabochons! For miniatures, rtv silicon or putty is definitely better due to its extreme flexibility. For a more economic way that doesn't compromise on quality, oyumaru is good for DIY molds for cabochons :) Its easy to get, easy to use and despite losing out to rtv and putty in terms of flexibility, it makes up for its "alot easier to use" feature. Its very convenient and good for beginners and people not so willing to waste money on this craft :)

A New Follower!

Why am I very very flattered! Well I got my first follower :o I thought that I'll probably fade into the background :( Thanks for following me and I'll try to maintain this blog as well as possible :D Schools been busy so my promised sunday post came a good 5 days later. I haven't been sleeping well due to work so where do I find time for minis and deco? Well I've fallen sick today so I finally got time to rest. Now I can't sleep so I'm stealing time to post something I've made last sunday during a break from work. Wah la! I've spent some time crapping about my life so I'll stop here. Skip to pictures if you ain't really interested :D

This time's picture in candle light :P Should I photoshop it or is it good as it is?

I really LOVE it!

Before I started revising and doing work, I went shopping alone (remember the first post, going to jurong by myself? YEA) and bought some rhinestones, some blah blah blah. I bought Rement, Silicon too :) So once I caught some time I took out the piping bag and started to do it! A spontaneous attempt, no planning beforehand, just plonked whatever I had :) I've been making some decoden pieces on standby, and the waffles one of them. I really like it :D The roses are ex-cake embellishments and the chocolate was stolen from cake making too >< I love rhinestones now! They used to put me off for all the blingness, but rhinestones on silicon is pure magic :) However, I don't get gigantic rhinestones for they are ex and I don't like them. I got these rhinestones at $1 shop for 5 (?) long strips of rhinestones :) Theres alot of colors and theres pearls too! They are $1.50 by the way =.=

And this is my order from sophie and toffee! They were pretty prompt and I now have a good ol discount code! Interested people can email me LOL. Will be saying this every post until someone decides to email me :) The canes are fine but strawberry canes are not as detailed as the ones I bought from madam ang. However they are less than half the price so I guess it balances out :) I think one cabochon is missing. I love the parfait cup! Will be using it soon :D Well I've use the cabochons to make some molds in an upcoming oyumaru review :D

Yes! I'll be posting real shortly. That's two posts for you guys! mmm, perhaps I should type as a draft and publish tomorrow so no information overload there....
